American Legion Baseball All-Star Game Cancelled

The following statement was released Tuesday afternoon by District 11 Baseball Chairman Bill Gilmore....

"It has been brought to my attention that there is a shortage of players available to play in the All-Star Game scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29th, 2016. The opening of the season was delayed this year, in part due to high school playoffs and weather, and has resulted in games being played back to back to back, forcing all teams to be playing games with fewer rest days in between. This is particularly difficult for our pitchers and a major contributing factor in the lack of pitchers available to play in the All-Star Game.

Rather than risk injury from excessive play, to any player, we have determined that the best course of action is to cancel the All-Star Game scheduled for tomorrow. It is not a decision that we make lightly, but feel we need to keep the safety of our players as the main priority.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this 2016 baseball season
