#TheScoreboard: Thursday's Games and Postponement News

FOOTBALL NEWS: The Big River Rivalry, the annual high school football all-star game highlighting seniors from across the #RVA, scheduled for this Saturday at Hermitage High School, has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.

Gary Hess, spokesperson for the Touchdown Club of Richmond, the game's sponsor said in a release on Wednesday that "one player tested positive and contact tracing left one of the teams short-handed and at a competitive disadvantage."

The Club hopes to return the game, which dates back to 2013, for December, 2022.

BASKETBALL NEWS: 

--Tonight's scheduled girls basketball games between L.C. Bird and George Wythe and Midlothian and Clover Hill have been postponed.

--Friday's Monacan at Powhatan boys basketball game is postponed, as is the James River at Huguenot game, which is rescheduled for January 17th.

--Tonight's scheduled women's basketball game between Virginia Union and Winston-Salem State has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The University says the men's basketball game between the two schools is still on for 7:30pm.

The Panther women were scheduled to face Livingstone on Saturday. That game has been canceled. The Panther men were scheduled to travel to Barry University on Saturday, but due to COVID-19 protocols at Barry, that game is canceled as well.

--The Penn State at VCU men's basketball game scheduled for Saturday at 3:30pm at the Siegel Center has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols within the Nittany Lion program.
