Virginia Tech has accepted an invitation to the Independence Bowl on Saturday, December 26th where they will face Tulsa, the 23rd straight season the Hokies, under retiring head coach Frank Beamer, have played in a bowl game. Ironically, the first bowl in the streak was the 1993 Independence Bowl against Indiana. The game will begin at 5:45pm in Shreveport, Louisiana.

6A State Quarterfinal: Thomas Dale 13, Cosby 7--Knights move to 9-4, will go to unbeaten Oscar Smith next Saturday in a 6A State Semifinal. Oscar Smith defeated Ocean Lakes 29-19.

4A State Quarterfinal: Lake Taylor 37, Hanover 22--Hawks gain 218 of their 273 yards of offense in frantic second half comeback attempt that saw them recover two onside kicks. The Hawks cut the margin to 30-22 on a John Dustin field goal with 6:21 left, but the Titans converted a fourth down on a 43-yard pass leading to an insurance touchdown with less than 2:30 remaining for their 13th straight win. Hanover finishes at 9-4.

First Round Football Playoff Coverage From RVASN!

Not one, but TWO live broadcasts plus live coverage and updates on Twitter, highlight RVA Sports Network's coverage of the first round of the VHSL football playoffs this Friday!

1) Our Game Of The Week broadcast on WHAN Radio (102.9 FM/1430 AM) and here online will be Atlee at Mountain View in a 5A North Region first round matchup. Rob Witham will be live in Stafford to bring you all the action on air and online beginning at 6:30pm with the "On The Sidelines Pre-Game Show Powered By Sheehy Ford of Ashland!".
