DEBUT TOP 10 POLLS: BASEBALL & SOFTBALL

Mother Nature wiped out plenty of games during the first week of the regular season for spring sports, but there was action Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and now we debut our Top 10 Polls for baseball and softball, which will release every Sunday through the end of the regular season here on our website, with insight and analysis on our "Central Region Now" Podcast each Sunday.

NOTE: Our Super 6 Polls for both boys and girls soccer and lacrosse will begin two weeks from now on Sunday, April 2nd.

1) Hanover (1-0, defending 4A State Champion)
2) James River (0-1, Conference 3, 6A South contender, lost to #1 Hanover Friday in 8 innings)
3) Mills Godwin (1-0, top contender for Conference 11)
4) Benedictine (3-1, lone loss so far to Greenbriar Christian)
5) Lee-Davis (0-0, two top pitchers back for Conference 11 semifinalist in '16)
6) Glen Allen (0-0, open season Monday with J.R. Tucker, who upset Deep Run Friday)
7) Manchester (2-0, will compete in Conference 3, already hold win over Cosby)
8) Prince George (1-0, young Royals will battle Matoaca for supremacy in Conference 12)
9) Cosby (1-1, defeated Midlothian, lost to #7 Manchester, face Clover Hill Tuesday)
