FOOTBALL: Newest VHSL Point Standings

Dinwiddie ties Louisa for the top spot in 4A East, Conferences 19/20, L.C. Bird extends their lead atop 5A South Central, where there is a big shakeup near the bottom of the rankings as the new Virginia High School League (VHSL) playoff power point standings are released Tuesday with just four Fridays left in the regular season.

NOTE: Teams ranked by their total VHSL points earned. Records and Friday's opponent are listed afterwards. Local teams are in bold.

In 2A East, Goochland is joined by Stuarts Draft in a tie for #1 at 22.333 points with a 6-0 record (7-0 overall; their win over Fork Union, a private school, does not count in VHSL standings). King William moves into the postseason picture, just barely, tied with Amelia and Washington and Lee for 15th place at 14.833 points. The top 16 teams make the playoffs.

In 1A East, Essex moves up three spots to 8th place (2-4, 17.5 points) gaining nearly three points with their win this past week.
